Randy Now may be a new name to you here today or one from your long ago past. Since 1979, Randy "Now" Ellis has been a leading force in New Jersey with his running of alternative night clubs, promoting the next big band before they are discovered by the masses, breaking new artists on his radio shows, or just helping bands across America as their booking agent or going the extra mile by literally tour managing on the road.
Randy has worn many hats in the history of New Jersey alternative music; the problem is that all the hats were of the wrong size.
From booking and DJ'ing at the legendary City Gardens Night Club in Trenton NJ for 18 years, where Randy booked over 3000 bands (Can you say The Ramones and their twenty appearances at City Gardens ) to hosting the first all ska music radio show in America (if not the World) back in 1984, Randy Now has seen, done, and acted on them all. Metal, punk, pop, ska, industrial, and electronic bands from around the World can thank Randy for his insightfullness with booking them when no other club elsewhere in New Jersey was interested in them.
His name appears on over 100 "Thank You" lists from bands album releases. He has tour managed bands like "Suicidal Tendencies" to "GWAR'. We could go on for quite some time with his accomplishments. The one thing that Randy is proud of, however is no Gold records on his office walls (there's not even an office) and no satin baseball jackets in his wardrobe. And Randy has never owned and passed out business cards.
All grunt, and all street. Randy Now has created a career out of dancing to the beat of that different drum for thirty years - and will never change.
