Mood Music: Ben Sollee [Learning to Bend]
Description: Very slow shutter speeds, low ISO, high F-stop. Beautiful.
Location: Kitchen Counter, Berkley Township, New Jersey
Mood Music: Radiohead [Pablo Honey]
Description: On a mission to put together an assortment of delightful photos for Shore Alternative's "Picture Show", I bought this bag of disturbing, horribly-made toys at a pharmacy for $5.00. I borrowed an obsurdly bright light from a friend. I placed the toys one by one on a piece of super glossy paper. I shot.
You can view three from this session at Gallery 13 on Cookman in Asbury Park. (Highly recommend the visit! They put together a nice show!)
Life is good.

February 22, 2010
Location: Twin Lights, Atlantic Highlands, New Jersey
Mood Music: A playlist on the iPod titled "DRIVING Music" (Currently "Bound for the Floor" by Local H)
Description: I haven't had the opportunity to review all of my photos from yesterday, but (because my camera is in the hospital due to shutter issues), I had the EXTREME pleasure of shoot a Canon 7D this weekend. Holy shit - to say the VERY least! This magnicificant body spills joy and sex at first glance, at first touch, at first shot. Once I figured out where all of the settings were, it was a piece of cake to operate.
The only bad part about my entire 7D experience, however, was the realization that I did not have it set at maximum resolution. A little bummed, but all things considered - the best camera I've ever shot.

Thanksgiving Eve
November 25, 2009
Location: Waterfront, Island Heights, New Jersey
Mood Music: Beck [Sea Change]
Description: Delicious! I don't know what it is about fog that I love so much, but it drives me crazy. The way the light travels... ahh... seeing the perfect beams poking out behind a lamp post or through a tree branch.... just amazes me. It's like waking up after a long night to a blizzard dumping snow.... or like watching the weather channel with tornado sirins going off in the distance..... or even bundling up on a couch, lights out, to an incredible electrical storm. Weather excites me.
Anyway, I grabbed a few neat shots, but I think this is the best worth sharing.
PS. No hangover for Thanksgiving. :)
Prescribed Music
November 23, 2009
Location: Front Yard, New Jersey
Mood Music: Midnight Poncho [Saṃsāra]
Sitting in bed at two in the morining, my ears plugged-in to new found music. This might be the most beautiful acoustic noise that I've heard in a long time. Simple melodies accompanied by soft/soothing vocals, slightly touched by reverb. He is speaking my mind. Album progresses, there are occasional threats of minor heart-ache by the distortion pedal, but sighing with relief as the tremolo guitar dances in the background. An incredible and seemingly well thought out album. Cover to cover, this is what I needed.
A.D.D.
Life sucks sometimes. It hurts, it breaks, it leaves you feeling so lone with nothing but your thoughts, and it has an incredibly unfair way of teaching us lessons. Music helps. It does not cure, or mend - it is the kiss before the bandaid that covers your wound. It's the caulk that masks the dings of history well enough to start over.
It might be all I have right now, but it's holding my hand.

Mood Music: Espers [The Weed Tree]
Description: Everytime I see a dragonfly, I am brought back to the memory of this one in particular. He was huge.... I'd say six or seven inches around - hanging upside down from a light fixture. In fact, he was so big that we almost walked into him on our way out the door for a cigarette. In shock and awe at the size of this still monster-of-an-insect, we watched him at rest. I snagged my camera from my car and started snapping shots. It was incredible... how motionless and willing (or dead asleep) he was.
My ISO was set to 1600, shutter speed at about 1/30 of a second - shots were clear, but I wanted more. I flipped the flash up and started firing away. His leg twitched. He was starting to wake up. I think I got a total of five or six shots with the flash before he freaked out. The poor guy started flying in circles (scaring the ever-living SHIT out of me) and flew to his death - inside the fixture.
Yes, you are looking at a curled up, fried and dead dragonfly. ....but look at the texture on him! The color and detail. He's beautiful!
All things eventually come to an end.

Location: Toms River, New Jersey
Current Mood Music: Tool [10,000 Days] (My favorite Tool album)
Description: My intention is not to offend…. so I’ll let Maynard lyrically illustrate a passion of mine – my interpretation of the song – the apocryphal ways of how too many Christians live their lives. (And I bet most of you [Christians] don’t even know what most of this song is referencing.)
PS. I am a non-believer.
10,000 Days:
Listen to the tales and romanticize,
How we follow the path of the hero
Boast about the day when the rivers overrun,
How we’ll rise to the height of our halo.
Listen to the tales as we all rationalize
Our way into the arms of the savior
Feigning all the trials and the tribulations,
None of us have actually been there,
Not like you…
Ignorant fibbers in the congregation
Gather around spewing sympathy,
Spare me…
None of them can even hold a candle up to you,
Blinded by choices these hypocrites won’t see
But enough about the collective Judas
Who could deny you were the one who illuminated
my little piece of the divine
This little light of mine, the gift you passed onto me,
I’m gonna let it shine,
to guide you safely on your way
Your way home…
Ohh, what are they gonna do when the lights go down
without you to guide them all to Zion?
What are they gonna do when the rivers overrun
other than tremble incessantly?
High is the way
but our lives are upon the ground.
You are the light and the way
They’ll only read about
I only pray heaven knows
When to lift you out
10000 days in the fire is long enough.
You’re going home…
You’re the only one who can hold your head up high,
Shake your fist at the gates saying,
“I have come home now!
Fetch me the spirit, the son and the father,
Tell them their pillar of faith has ascended.
It’s time now!
My time now!
Give me my
Give me my wings!”…
You are the light, the way, that they will only read about
Set as I am in my ways and my arrogance
Burden of proof tossed upon non believers.
You were my witness, my eyes, my evidence,
Judith Marie, unconditional one.
Daylight dims leaving cold fluorescents.
Difficult to see you in this light.
Please forgive this bold suggestion, but
Should you see your maker’s face tonight
Look him in the eye
Look him in the eye and tell him
I never lived a lie, never took a life,
But surely saved one
Hallelujah…..
It’s time for you to bring me home.
