Bamboozle was a blast this weekend!
Thanks to everyone who came out and supported, and a big hello to everyone who is checking us out for the first time.
Just some highlights from the weekend..
ALL THE DAY HOLIDAY! – These are our dudes and we are so happy that they are starting to get some notoriety.. Check them out in Rolling Stone as a band to watch – http://www.rollingstone.com/rockdaily/index.php/2009/05/04/bamboozle-2009-six-breakout-bands-to-watch/ –
They deserve this for sure.
Lydia – Of course! what else needs to be said.. You were lucky if you got to catch the acoustic set they did in the VIP tent on Sunday afternoon..
Innerpartysystem – Fall Out WHO???? – these dudes played during Saturday’s headliners and I can promise you, you missed one of the best performances of the day. This band is full of energy and they leave it all out on stage.. For fans of Depeche Mode, Chemical Brothers and Young Love.
GWAR!!!!! – need I say more?
Just a little off topic.. I’m in love with the new album from The Horrors.. Gonna post their new video later. Make sure to come back and check it!

isn’t that sort of like the sublime song?
anyway, please enjoy today’s playlist.. it’s one of my favorites.
today, our featured artist is Silversun Pickups whose excellent new album “Swoon” is in stores and on Itunes now. we love them here at S-Alt and we hope you do as well..
enjoy the weekend.
ELE. (semi-pro reference)
albums of the year so far.
April 15, 2009
so i just recently got a copy of the new Manchester Orchestra album – Means Everything To Nothing.. and I could quite possibly see this breaking through into the top 5 for me this year.. my other favorite albums of the year so far –
1. Metric – Fantasties
(their best album yet, hands down)
track suggestions – “blindness, gimmie sympathy”
2. Doves – Kingdom Of Rust
(completely worth the wait after the last 3 years. a stunning record)
track suggestions – “10:03, winter hill, kingdom of rust”
3. Silversun Pickups – Swoon
(i think they are going to catch alot of criticism for this album being a “sophmore slump”. it has it’s weaknesses but i really enjoy it. also “growing old is getting old” and “sort of” are two of the best songs they’ve written so far)
track suggestions “the royal we, panic switch, getting old is growing old, sort of”
4. Yeah Yeah Yeahs – It’s Blitz!
(karen o and crew have made some really great dance tracks, and mixed them with some of the most complex, emotional and accomplished songs of their career. just a win all around)
track suggestions – “zero, runaway, hysteric”
5. It Hugs Back – Inside Your Guitar
(i have no idea where this band came from, all i know is that i never want them to leave. definitely for fans of yo la tengo, earlimart, death cab for cutie, or just fans of indie rock in general)
track suggestions – “don’t know, forgotten, q”
metric -- fantasies = top album of 2009 contender?
April 9, 2009
metric’s new album has totally been on repeat for me the last couple of days.. it’s definitely their best record yet and so far one of the best releases of 2009.
you can get it now on itunes and in some record shops. as of right now, they are releasing the album themselves but i think once people hear “gimme sympathy”, i think this album could be HUGE!
enjoy the video.

it’s called Kingdom of Rust and it’s absolutely stunning.
it’s definitely a mix of their first two albums, and the single “Kingdom Of Rust” is one of the best songs i’ve heard in quite some time..
you can grab the album on Itunes and it’ll be in stores next week.. i will definitely feature some of the songs on ShoreAlternative.com over the weekend so you guys can hear some tracks if you want to test it out.
